What is Project IMPACT?

Project IMPACT (Improved Management Personnel Engagement and Career Transformation) is Suffolk County’s commitment to employees to implement the Workday Human Resource Management System (HRMS) for all County Employees.

Due to unique scheduling requirements for some employees in the Police Department, Sheriff’s Department and FRES the County will also deploy UKG, an advanced scheduling, time and attendance system in addition to Workday.  Specific operations within each department that will be utilizing UKG are as follows:

What is Workday?

Workday is single, unified, state-of-the-art cloud-based system used for HR, Payroll, and Finance business processes. We have purchased and are now implementing the Human Resources and Payroll portions of this leading, modern HRMS platform. It includes a new Payroll module which will replace our legacy Payroll system. The functionality provided will help us to be more connected to our organization, be better managers, and ultimately, increase the effectiveness of our government.

Easy to Use – Designed like a consumer website, Workday has simple user navigation, allowing you to easily access information in a few clicks.

Simple – By utilizing cloud-based technology, Workday provides information from one portal with simple, hassle-free tools.

Mobile – Workday is mobile-friendly and easily accessible from anywhere that has an Internet connection, allowing you the flexibility to stay connected wherever you are.

Secure – Workday takes a holistic approach to security ranging from technical safety guards to data privacy laws and compliance.

About Project IMPACT

Suffolk County in partnership with Accenture, a professional technology services company, has been collaborating to configure and integrate Workday and UKG to deliver a state-of-the-art Human Resource Management System (HRMS) to Suffolk County.

The project, titled “Project IMPACT” is scheduled to go live on December 27th, 2021. Updates and additional information will continue to arrive in your mailbox, however, some of the highlights of Project IMPACT’s Workday system will include the ability to:

  • Submit time, attendance, and payroll transactions online
  • Change your personal information with employee self-service
  • Request and schedule time off
  • Manage your team
  • Check your pay stub
  • Search for county employees
  • Manage recruiting and onboarding processes
  • Improve training and development for staff
  • Access information via mobile device(s) as well as desktop or laptop computer!

Workday has been expertly designed to be an easy-to-use employee-based self-service tool!

Project Management Team

The core project team includes County staff from Human Resources, Civil Service, Personnel and IT. These members bring a wealth of both private sector and public sector knowledge, expertise and hands-on implementation experience to Project IMPACT.

Project IMPACT’s expanded team is comprised of over 60 project team leads and subject matter experts with different yet valuable perspectives, experiences, opinions and current-state knowledge. The expanded team members originate in many departments; Civil Service, HR, Personnel, Labor Relations, Clerk, PD, Sherriff, Comptroller, Audit & Control, Budget, Health, District Attorney, Probation, FRES, DSS, DPW, Parks, IT and the County Executive’s Office. These team members are vital in the discovery of the current-state of the County’s workflows and processes along with helping to architect the future-state of the County’s HRMS (Human Resources Management System).
